Lehigh Career & Technical Institute (LCTI) recognizes outstanding cooperative education students, their teachers, and their employers at an annual award ceremony.

Description

The LCTI School to Work Coordinator collaborates with the Director of Postsecondary Education and Workforce Development to organize the annual Outstanding Cooperative Education Student Award Ceremony. The event, which takes place during a spring JOC Board Meeting, provides a unique opportunity to showcase the successes of cooperative education students and highlight the important support provided by their teachers and their employers.

The School to Work Coordinator, lab teacher, and employer nominate and select ten cooperative education students for the award. The award recipients, their parents, sending school administrators and counselors are invited to attend the ceremony. At the event, the Executive Director of LCTI, the Director of Postsecondary Education and Workforce Development, and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction all speak. In addition, the student award recipients and their employer and lab teacher speak. The employers receive a plaque to commemorate the occasion, and the students receive a certificate and gift.

Impact

LCTI views the annual award ceremony as a rewarding opportunity for employers, administrators, and parents to celebrate the students. It also is an occasion to publicly recognize the work employers do to support LCTI students.
